Tahoe City, California — The Association of Freeskiing Professionals is proud to announce the addition of three new team members.
Andrew Gauthier joins us as Marketing and World Tour Manager. Andrew hails from Southeastern Massachusetts and has earned his MBA in Hospitality and Service Industries Management with a focus in marketing from Glion Institute of Higher Education in Switzerland. In addition, his undergraduate education at Sierra Nevada College includes Bachelors' degrees in Ski Business and Resort Management as well as International Business. Since the beginning of his college education Andrew has been in pursuit of a career in the industry he loves and has found one with the AFP. Andrew will be responsible for daily operational tasks including membership organization, event sanctioning and world tour scheduling, rankings updating, organizing clinics, and website administration. Andrew will be based full-time out of the Tahoe offices.
"We were fortunate to have found and recruited Andrew through our partnership with the Ski Business and Resort Management program at Sierra Nevada Collage," states AFP's Executive Director Eric Zerrenner. "His education and background will allow him to immediately contribute and bring a fresh perspective to our established goals and strategy for the 2014 season, but its his entrepreneurial outlook and motivation to succeed that we are most excited to have contributing to the AFP team on daily basis."
Additionally, SBC Skier's Jeff Schmuck and Freeskier's Nicole Birkhold are teaming up with the AFP as part of the Senior Advisory Board. Both Jeff and Nicole are long-time veterans of the ski industry and will be working with the AFP to further the AFP's communication efforts and offer support to the organization.
"The AFP is fortunate to have the talents of Jeff Schmuck and Nicole Birkhold onboard to help to guide the direction of the World Tour. Their day-to-day relationship with the athletes, long history of reporting around competition and proven dedication to skiing are unparalleled in the industry. We're so stoked to have them as part of the AFP team," says AFP Co-Founder Christopher Jerard.
"At our Annual Board meeting this summer, we committed to a more focused and enhanced communications strategy moving forward," says Zerrenner. "The addition of Nicole and Jeff and their relationships in the industry is a huge step toward fulfilling this goal."
