It would take pages upon pages to sing all of the praises Kaya is worthy of, along with her long list of accomplishments and accolades, which include being crowned an AFP World Tour Champion five times, and winning an impressive eight gold medals at X Games. But suffice to say, in addition to being the most successful female slopestyle freeskier since the sport’s inception, she is also without question its most important pioneer, having been the first female to land a switch 1080 and switch double cork 1080 in competition, among other trail blazing feats that broke ground and gender barriers alike.

She was, is and will continue to be an inspiration to female freeskiers across the globe, in the same way that the late Sarah Burke inspired her to take the sport to new heights. Kaya’s contributions to freeskiing are next to impossible to put into words, and will certainly be felt for many, many years to come.

On behalf of everyone at the Association of Freeskiing Professionals, and those who compete on the AFP World Tour that Kaya was such an integral part of, we'd like to thank her for everything she's done for the sport, and wish her the very best of luck in her future endeavors. She will forever be a champion of freeskiing.
