The Association of Freeskiing Professionals is excited to announce the launch of at the new and improved afpworldtour.com site.
Built by the talented crew at Hookit, the new site has a completely new look as well as improved and expanded functionality. The usability and aesthetic appeal of the site are dramatically improved and updated.
Users will be able to follow their favorite athletes through the season and their ups and downs in both the athletic and social rankings through the updated and expanded athlete profiles. Their profiles will show exactly what scores from which events they’ve competed in are being counted in their athletic ranking.
Our newest, biggest and most exciting announcement is the addition of social rankings for all active AFP members. In conjunction with Hookit, we have developed a proprietary indexing system that calculates a users twitter, instagram and facebook usage and engagement to determine a social ranking. We won't call it a popularity contest, but the cool kids are generally at the top!
“I’ll definitely be tracking the athletes on the new social media ranking system,” says Justin Dorey. “I think it's a very interesting idea and a pretty valuable thing to know, especially for sponsors. If a sponsor’s athlete doesn't produce great results in competition but has a big presence on social media it acts as another way to show their value.”
“I'm stoked that there's a system in place that will allow me to see if people are following me and enjoying the content I'm putting out there,” says Matt Margetts.
Jen Hudak adds,”It’s basically a Klout score exclusively for action sports athlete. It’s something that’s never been done before in freeskiing and I’m excited to see how it works out.”
