AFP World Tour Rankings Update - March 29th

Mar 29, 2017

Words: Jeff Schmuck

It’s time for a quick and dirty update on the AFP World Tour Rankings, as only two events took place over the course of the past week: the dual Gold-Level FIS Freestyle World Cup Big Airs in Myrkdalen Fjellandsby, Norway, which were the final stops on this season’s World Cup Big Air Circuit. Here’s how this double header had an impact on the rankings…

FIS FREESTYLE WORLD CUP BIG AIR - DAY 1
Location: Myrkdalen Fjellandsby, Norway
Discipline: Big Air
Sanctioning Level: Gold

Men’s Big Air

1) CHRISTIAN NUMMEDAL: 43rd —> 14th (+29)
• Nummedal’s win on Day 1 of this event and his tenth place performance on Day 2 both count towards his top 3 Big Air results in the past 52 weeks, with his win being his third result in that time frame, which secures him an additional 725 points, and his tenth place performance replacing his result from this season’s Nor Freeski Cup at Dombaas with an additional 202.61 points, giving him a total of 927.61 additional points, which moves him 29 spots up.
2) BIRK RUUD: 2nd —> 3rd (-1)
• Ruud’s second place showing on Day 1 would have counted towards his top 3 results (as it replaced his result from last season’s Fridge Festival with an additional 6.71 points), until his win on Day 2 ended up replacing it with an additional 38.95 points, giving him a total of 45.66 additional points. But due to Henrik Harlaut now having a higher amount of accumulative points in the past 52 weeks, he drops one spot.
3) FERDINAND DAHL: 21st —> 16th (+5)
• Dahl’s third place performance on Day 1 and his fourth place finish on Day 2 both count towards his top 3 Big Air results in the past 52 weeks, and replace his results from this season’s Nor Freeski Cups at Dombaas and Hovden with an additional 707.49 points, so he moves five spots up.
4) OYSTEIN BRATEN: 35th —> 9th (+26)
• Braten’s fourth place finish on Day 1 and his sixth place showing on Day 2 both count towards his top 3 results, and are his second and third results in the past 52 weeks, so he moves 26 spots up.
5) ANTOINE ADELISSE: 22nd —> 22nd (EVEN)
• Adelisse’s fifth place finish on Day 1 and his second place showing on Day 2 both count towards his top 3 results, and are his first and second results in the past 52 weeks, so he re-enters the rankings in 22nd.
6) HENRIK HARLAUT: 8th —> 1st (+7)
• Harlaut’s sixth place showing secured him an additional 603.50 points, as it was his third result in the past 52 weeks, but did not end up counting towards his top 3 results, as his fifth place finish on Day 2 ended up replacing it with an additional 15.13 points, giving him a total of 618.63 additional points, which moves him seven spots up and into the lead.
7) KLAUS FINNE: 5th —> 6th (-1)
• The amount of points Finne secured with his seventh place showing on Day 1 (589.18) and his 11th place performance on Day 2 (543.16) do not eclipse his top 3 results, and due to Henrik Harlaut now having a higher amount of accumulative points in the past 52 weeks, he drops one spot.
8) VINCENT VEILE: 25th —> 25th (EVEN)
• Veile’s eighth place performance on Day 1 and his 16th place showing on Day 2 both count towards his top 3 results, and are his first and second results in the past 52 weeks, so he re-enters the rankings in 25th.

9) ROBERT ANDRE RUUD: 24th —> 19th (+5)
• Ruud’s ninth place performance on Day 1 and his 12th place performance on Day 2 both count towards his top 3 results, and replace his results from this season’s Nor Freeski Cup at Dombaas and last season’s Nor Freeski Championships with an additional 533.33 points, so he moves five spots up.
10) EIRIK SAETEROY: 11th —> 7th (+4)
• Saeteroy’s tenth place performance on Day 1 and his seventh place showing on Day 2 both count towards his top 3 results, and replace his results from this season’s Nor Freeski Cup at Dombaas and last season’s Nor Freeski Championships with an additional 421.79 points, so he moves four spots up.

Women’s Big Air

1) EMMA DAHLSTROM: 4th —> 1st (+3)
• Dahltom’s win counts towards her top 3 Big Results in the past 52 weeks, and is her third result in that time frame, so she moves three spots up and into the lead.
2) SILVIA BERTAGNA: 11th —> 2nd (+9)
• Bertagna’s second place showings on Day 1 and Day 2 of this event both count towards her top 3 results, and are her second and third results in the past 52 weeks, so she moves nine spots up.
3) TORA JOHANSEN: 23rd —> 7th (+16)
• Johansen’s third place performance on Day 1 and her fourth place finish on Day 2 both count towards her top 3 results, and are her second and third results in the past 52 weeks, so she moves 16 spots up.
4) KEA KUEHNEL: 9th —> 9th (EVEN)
• Kuehnel’s fourth place finish on Day 1 and her third place performance on Day 2 both count towards her top 3 results, and are her first and second results in the past 52 weeks, so she re-enters the rankings in ninth.
