AFP World Tour Rankings Update - April 6th

With winter winding down, it’s time for our third-to-last update of the season on the 2017 AFP World Tour. Over the course of the past week, six events transpired, including the Gold-Level Total Fight in Grandvalira, Andorra (Slopestyle), the final stop of the Gold-Level Step Up Tour at Le Relais, Quebec (Slopestyle), the Silver-Level Showdown Throwdown Hoedown at Silver Star, B.C. (Slopestyle), the Bronze-Level Nor Freeski Championships in Geilo, Norway (Slopestyle & Big Air), the second to last stop of the Bronze-Level Swiss Freeski Open in Crans Montana, Switzerland (Halfpipe), and the Bronze-Level French National Championships in Font Romeau, France (Slopestyle). Here’s a look at how they impacted the AFP World Tour Rankings…

TOTAL FIGHT
Location: Grandvalira, Andorra
Discipline: Slopestyle
Sanctioning Level: Gold

Men’s Slopestyle

1) ALEX HALL: 7th —> 4th (+3)
• Hall’s win counts towards his top 3 Slopestyle results in the past 52 weeks, and replaces his result from this season’s Nanshan Freeski Open with an additional 150 points, so he moves three spots up.
2) MCRAE WILLIAMS: 2nd —> 2nd (EVEN)
• The amount of points (827.40) Williams secured with his second place showing does eclipse his top 3 results, so he remains in second.
3) ANTOINE ADELISSE: 15th —> 6th (+9)
• Adelisse’s third place performance counts towards his top 3 results, and replaces his result from this season’s Freeski World Cup Corvatsch with an additional 123.19 points, so he moves nine spots up.
4) HENRIK HARLAUT: 8th —> 7th (+1)
• Harlaut’s fourth place finish counts towards his top 3 results, and replaces his result from this season’s X Games Norway with an additional 37.37 points, so he moves one spot up.
5) NOAH WALLACE: 18th —> 18th (EVEN)
• Wallace’s fifth place finish counts towards his top 3 results, and replaces his result from this season’s Absolut Spring Park Battle with an additional 84.24 points, but does not secure him enough points to overtake Bobby Brown, so he remains in 18th.

STEP UP TOUR
Location: Slopestyle
Discipline: Le Relais, Quebec
Sanctioning Level: Gold

Men’s Slopestyle

1) EMILE BERGERON: 317th —> 238th (+79)
• Bergeron’s win counts towards his top 3 Slopestyle results in the past 52 weeks, and is his third result in that time frame, so he moves 79 spots up.
2) ALEX HACKEL: 69th —> 57th (+12)
• Hackel’s second place showing counts towards his top 3 results, and is his second result in the past 52 weeks, so he moves 12 spots up.
3) MARK DRAPER: 57th —> 40th (+17)
• Draper’s third place performance counts towards his top 3 results, and replaces his result from this season’s Canadian Open Tour at Stoneham with an additional 236.25 points, so he moves 17 spots up.
4) MAX MOFFATT: 29th —> 33rd (-4)
• Moffatt’s fourth place finish counts towards his top 3 results, and replaces his result from this season’s Canadian Open Tour at Mount Sima with an additional 213.09 points, but due to other athletes now having a higher amount of accumulative points in the past 52 weeks, he drops four spots.
5) WILLIE BORM: 58th —> 20th (+38)
• Borm’s fifth place finish counts towards his top 3 results, and is his third result in the past 52 weeks, so he moves 38 spots up. 

Women’s Slopestyle

1) DARIAN STEVENS: 24th —> 13th (+11)
• Stevens’ win counts towards her top 3 Slopestyle results in the past 52 weeks, and replaces her result from this season’s Swiss Freeski Open at Glacier 3000 with an additional 480 points, so she moves 11 spots up.
2) NIKKI BLACKALL: 15th —> 14th (+1)
• Blackall’s second place showing counts towards her top 3 results, and replaces her result from this season’s SFR Freestyle Tour in Font Romeu with an additional 81.58 points, so she moves one spot up.
3) RELL HARWOOD: 25th —> 22nd (+3)
• Harwood’s third place performance counts towards her top 3 results, and replaces her result from this season’s Aspen Snowmass Open with an additional 156 points, so she moves three spots up.
4) MARILOU BOUTHIETTE: 36th —> 37th (-1)
• Bouthiette’s fourth place finish counts towards her top 3 results, and replaces her result from this season’s U.S. Revolution Tour at Seven Springs with an additional 293.50 points, but due to other athletes now having a higher amount of accumulative points in the past 52 weeks, she drops one spot.
5) SOFIA TCHERNETSKY: 17th —> 17th (EVEN)
• Tchernetsky’s fifth place finish counts towards her top 3 results, and replaces her result from this season’s Aspen Snowmass Open with an additional 99.44 points, but does not secure her enough points to overtake Nadia Gonzales, so she remains in 17th.

SHOWDOWN THROWDOWN HOEDOWN

Discipline: Slopestyle
Sanctioning Level: Silver

Men’s Slopestyle

1) MIGUEL RODDEN: 284th —> 106th (+178)
• Rodden’s win counts towards his top 3 Slopestyle results in the past 52 weeks, and is his third result in that time frame, so he moves 178 spots up.
2) BRYCE BAKER: 427th —> 427th (EVEN)
• Baker’s second place showing counts towards his top 3 results, and is his first result in the past 52 weeks, so he re-enters the rankings in 427th.
3) THOMAS RUTKOWSKI: 442nd —> 442nd (EVEN)
• Rutkowski’s third place performance counts towards his top 3 results, and is his first result in the past 52 weeks, so he re-enters the rankings in 442nd. 

Women’s Slopestyle

1) MEGAN HENDERSON: 103rd —> 103rd (EVEN)
• Henderson’s win counts towards her top 3 Slopestyle results in the past 52 weeks, and is her first result in that time frame, so she re-enters the rankings in 103rd.

2) FELIX STRIDSBERG-USTERUD: 33rd —> 30th (+3)
• Stridsberg-Usterud’s second place showing counts towards his top 3 results, and replaces his result from last season’s Nor Freeski Championships with an additional 62.69 points, so he moves three spots up.
3) ELIAS GJAERE: 488th —> 488th (EVEN)
• Gjaere’s third place performance counts towards his top 3 results, and is his first result in the past 52 weeks, so he re-enters the rankings in 488th. 

Women’s Slopestyle

1) ELVIRA MARIE ROS: 114th —> 85th (+29)
• Ros’ win counts towards her top 3 Slopestyle results in the past 52 weeks, and is her second result in the past 52 weeks, so she moves 29 spots up.

• Andreassen’s third place performance counts towards his top 3 results, and is his second result in the past 52 weeks, so he moves 117 spots up. 

Women’s Big Air

1) SANDRA EIE: 36th —> 18th (+18)
• Eie’s win counts towards her top 3 Big Air results in the past 52 weeks, and is her second result in that time frame, so she moves 18 spots up.
2) TORA JOHANSEN: 7th —> 7th (EVEN)
• Johansen’s second place showing counts towards her top 3 results, and is her third result in the past 52 weeks, but does not secure her enough points to overtake Johanne Killi, so she remains in seventh.

Men’s Halfpipe

1) RAFAEL KREIENBUEHL: 46th —> 42nd (+4)
• Kreienbuehl’s win counts towards his top 3 Halfpipe results in the past 52 weeks, and replaces his result from this season’s Swiss Freeski Open in Laax with an additional 75.43 points, so he moves four spots up.
2) SAMMY SCHUILING: 18th —> 18th (EVEN)
• The amount of points (375.09) Schuiling secured with his second place showing does eclipse his top 3 results, so he remains in 18th.
3) ROBIN BRIGUET: 55th —> 51st (+4)
• Briguet’s third place performance counts towards his top 3 results, and replaces his result from this season’s Swiss Freeski Open in Davos with an additional 45 points, so he moves four spots up. 

Women’s Halfpipe

1) KELLY SILDARU: 59th —> 50th (+9)
• Sildaru’s win counts towards her top 3 Halfpipe results in the past 52 weeks, and is her second result in that time frame, so she moves nine spots up.
2) SVEA IRVING: 16th —> 16th (EVEN)
• The amount of points (375.09) Irving secured with her second place showing does eclipse her top 3 results, so she remains in 16th.
3) VALERIA DEMIDOVA: 41st —> 29th (+12)
• Demidova’s third place performance counts towards her top 3 results, and is her third result in the past 52 weeks, so she moves 12 spots up.

Men’s Slopestyle

1) ANTOINE ADELISSE: 15th —> 6th (+9)
• The amount of points (395) Adelisse secured with his win does eclipse his top 3 Slopestyle results in the past 52 weeks, but as previously mentioned, his third place performance at Total Fight moves him nine spots up.
2) BENOIT BURATTI: 24th —> 25th (-1)
• The amount of points (375.09) Buratti secured with his second place showing does eclipse his top 3 results, and due to Quinn Wolferman now having a higher amount of accumulative points in the past 52 weeks as a result of his eighth place performance at Total Fight, he drops one spot.
3) VINCE MAHARAVO: 51st —> 46th (+5)
• Maharavo’s third place performance counts towards his top 3 results, and replaces his result from last season’s Swiss Freeski Championships with an additional 313.88 points, so he moves five spots up. 

Women’s Slopestyle

1) LOU BARIN: 33rd —> 33rd (EVEN)
• The amount of points (370) Barin secured with her win does eclipse her top 3 Slopestyle results in the past 52 weeks, so she remains in 33rd.
2) JUSTINE CUOQ: 84th —> 84th (EVEN)
• Cuoq’s second place showing counts towards her top 3 results, and is her second result in the past 52 weeks, but does not secure her enough points to overtake Eileen Gu, so she remains in 84th.
3) TESS LEDEUX: 2nd —> 2nd (EVEN)
• The amount of points (337) Ledeuz secured with her third place performance does eclipse her top 3 results, so she remains in 2nd.

As a result of the above events, here are some notable movements in the top 20 on the Men’s and Women’s Overall Rankings.
